His production in his first 37 PAs of the season has been replacement-level, even after he hit a game-winning homer in the eighth to notch a sweep of the Reds on Wednesday night, but everything is so much weirder than that. Due to the tiny sample we’re working with, Rosario’s baseball existence looks even weirder than before. That brings us to the actual start of the 2023 so far, where things have once again, gone off the rails. Still, the Braves had him slated for a starter-y role, rotating through left field and DH with Marcell Ozuna and sharing time at DH with the team’s two catchers. He was essentially projected as replacement-level, no better than a random bench-filler from Triple-A or the waiver wire. which propelled him into a nightmarish 2022 season where he experienced some combination of: A) playing baseball while unable to see, due to a swollen right retina and blurred vision B) an arguably too-short rehab stint after eye surgery, leading to, C) pretty awful play even when returning in the latter part of the season, and therefore D) -1.1 fWAR in 270 PAs, tied for the ninth-worst mark among position players in MLB that season.Ĭoming into 2023, Rosario’s overall track record (2.4 fWAR/600 if you exclude 2022, or 2.0/600 if you do include it), combined with his recent performance (below-average full seasons in 20), and the horrendous nature of his 2022, even after he returned, really tanked his outlook. After that, he snagged a sizable-for-his-production two-year, $18 million deal with the Braves. (Fun trivia: you could also argue that Rosario made his Braves debut before being acquired, due to appearing in the second half of a suspended game that started before he was traded from Cleveland to Atlanta.) He then proceeded to put up 0.6 fWAR in 106 PAs, hit for the cycle on just five pitches, go berserk in the playoffs and get named NLCS MVP, and end up with a championship ring. When the Braves acquired Rosario at the Trade Deadline in 2021, he wasn’t even healthy, and didn’t debut in Atlanta until about a month after he was acquired. If there’s one thing that’s been consistent about his time in Atlanta, it’s that there really hasn’t been any consistency: it’s always been something with the outfielder, whether good or bad. Eddie Rosario has already had his share of ups and downs with the Atlanta Braves. ![]() But the mission is to make financially independent, successful women who never have to ask for permission, who choose their own path in life, who decide and determine their destiny. If I can make 1000s or hundreds of 1000s, I mean who knows, we just got to keep going and work day by day. But I also love business, and I learned that I'm really good at making money. In my head, I have all these things that I think need to be in the world. That connectivity is always about freedom, individuality and choice, whether it's the shoes, or the shapewear, or when I'm doing Elite World Group, transforming us into a media conglomerate, transforming our talent into networks and brands, it's always about freedom and individuality. To me, if you think about it, there's one strand of connectivity. If you lived inside of my head for two minutes, you'd understand why I'm an insomniac. Where do you get that itch for being a fashion entrepreneur and making all of these ideas come to life? We figured out different ways of putting color into fabric and we have created something that we call "Power Bond." The material is actually infused with color. The reason shapewear is always beige, black and white is because if you try to put a pattern or color on it, the minute you put it on your body and it has to stretch, you get those nasty white lines and it looks disgusting and horrible. When you dye a material and then you stretch that material, what happens? When you have a colorful thing and you stretch it really far, you see those little white lines in-between. It's not because people aren't creative, it's not because they don't take the time, it's from a pure logistical reason in that the color connected to fabric is dye. Now, what does that mean? You know how shapewear, like every shapewear, from Skims to Wolfords, Spanx, you name it, comes in three colors: Beige, black, and white. So it's called +Body by Haart+Lieu and what we have done is create the first-ever shapewear that doesn't even look remotely like shapewear. I know you want to disrupt the world of shapewear. In 2021, mirrorless cameras have come a long way, now offering a serious alternative to DSLRs, a breed that is slowly disappearing ( Canon already said it probably will not design new EF lenses, Sony has not produced an A-mount product in years, and Nikon might follow the same path). Then came autofocus improvements, dual card slots, faster continuous shooting speeds, more robust bodies and more competition. The city was not able to preserve the facade. The building burned down in 2022, two residents lost their lives, businesses were lost. What I would’ve given for more time but I worked quickly knowing how little time I had to capture a few stolen moments. Nancy called her father once inside and he walked us through the hallways that he had once walked.Īn empty room, an old telephone, reds and greens, chipped paint and exposed wires. As we climbed the stairs, I felt my heart beating with excitement at our good fortune. I’m not sure if it was because I had Nancy beside me or, more likely, that I strongly believed that images of the outside of the building couldn’t possibly portray the lives (and the stories) that had once inhabited it.Īfter I knocked and pleaded with the manager he gave us access to the building making us promise that we would not disturb the tenants. It was out of character for me to knock on the door of the Winters Hotel that day. The stories resonated with me being a child of immigrants myself. I was eager to get the best possible image of the building, invigorated by her accounts of their journey. We walked around the puddled streets trying to discern the best angle to photograph the building, all the while Nancy recounting her parents’ life story. The building had housed her parents for six months in the 1960s when they had first immigrated to Canada from Korea. She had asked me if I would photograph the outside of the Winters Hotel. It was a rainy fall day when my friend, Nancy Chapman, and I met in Vancouver’s Gastown. The hotel’s loss leaves lingering questions for the neighbourhood, for our city, and for our society at large. In many ways, over its lifetime, the hotel came to reflect the neighbourhood’s shifting demographics, ultimately developing into an SRO (Single Room Occupancy). The Winters Hotel was built in 1907 and was representative of Vancouver’s growing population and emerging identity. In 2021 the historic hotel was destroyed by fire claiming the lives of two of its residents. The project quickly evolved into a deeper and larger conversation when Strang gained entry into the hotel and access to its intimate and personal spaces in 2017. Winters Hotel: A Sense of Place began as a documentary exploration chronicling the early footsteps of a friend’s family who immigrated to Canada in the 1960s and settled at the Winters Hotel.
